This was surely a match Mods should comfortably have won but the longer we failed to press home any advantage we may have had the more Adwick grew in self-belief. They flung themselves into every tackle as if their lives depended upon hauling down the Mods' attackers. Often four, five and even six defenders greeted each Mods' surge. Eventually Adwick's tenacity paid off with two tries to claim their entry to the third round. Much though we tried I'm afraid we were out-muscled. It just was not destined to be our day.

2nd XV v Leo's 3rd XV, FRIENDLY, (a) LOST 3-38

Mods did extremely well considering the Leos team looked very much like
their second string so we were effectively playing two divisions above. Mods
put some excellent moves together and looked very strong in the forwards,
unfortunately their backs ran the show and on the "massive" Leos first team
pitch stretched the Mods back line on numerous occasions.

Special mention for Hodgkiss who would like it to be known that despite the
above score line the Mods actually won two nil, that is to say two against
the head to nil for Leos.

10 game unbeaten run has now ended but there was no shame in being beaten by
a very strong Leos team.
