1st XV v Heath O.B. (H) WON 22-7

Playing against the table-toppers the last thing we needed was to go seven points behind in the first minute. A trouncing was on the cards but Mods resolve occasionally digs up some stern stuff and today we dug very deep. The way we gradually fought and felt our way back into the game, then completely demoralised the Heath XV was a pleasure to witness. First, we steeled the defence then we probed the fringes but eventually found gaps out wide. Handling errors were made but a determination to keep the ball alive and numerous clean breaks by Wilson, Batley, Philpotts and Stead in particular brought huge rewards. The forwards were magnificent, laying the platform for this resurgence and our three tries from Wilson, Batley and possibly the pick of the three: Stead's break from halfway,beating three lines of defence and ending under the sticks.
This was good. More similar performances will see the 1st XV threatening Yorkshire Division 2 not Yorkshire Division 4. Keep it up.
