Playing uphill first half, Mods had all on to contain a fast -starting but over-elaborate Moortown. Tight defence pushed Moortown further and further up the slope until we were playing in the relatively open spaces of midfield and even had a couple of sorties into the opposition third. Perhaps it was growing confidence that accounted for the turned over possession that led to their left winger romping over on the left when danger was least expected. The conversion made it 0-7. There were signs from the first period we could turn the game in the second half but we needed to score first. Mods' ball was a rare commodity and defence was again, necessarily from the top drawer. A series of sliced attempts from free kicks and a charge down in open play increased the pressure until both wings ran in tries in the final quarter giving Moortown a final 17-0 advantage.
What do they say when knocked out of the cup? We can now concentrate on the......................................drowning of our sorrows in the bar.

Burge. I've got the score wrong haven't I ?
I know it isn't far off and that we were nilled so it doesn't make a right lot of difference but what was the score?
Typical isn't it .The first week I offer to provide a tally of leading points scorers nobody scores one!!
